Auspicious Date, Constellation, & Day

You can name your child anytime you wish, and keeping the name on an auspicious date, day, and nakshatra will yield beneficial outcomes.

As per the Hindu calendar, there are auspicious dates falling in 2024, that will ensure the performance of the Namkaran ceremony of your child. The auspicious days for 2024 Namkaran Muhurat are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The naming or Namkaran ceremony can be performed on these days in any month in 2024.

For the Namkaran Ceremony, Navami, Ekadashi, Shasthi, and Chaturdashi are the auspicious dates. The auspicious Nakshatras for the Namkaran ceremony are Ashwini, Shatabhisha, Swati, Chitra, and Hasta Nakshatra. Other than that, Shravan, Anuradha, and Rohini Nakshatra will be fruitful for 2024 Namkaran Nakshatra.

The ancient religious belief states that a boy’s name should have an even number letter and the girl’s name should have an odd number.

On Which Day Is The Namkaran Ceremony Performed?

2024 Namkaran Muhurat says that as per the Hindu religion, the naming of the child should be done after ten days of the child’s birth and following all the necessary rituals. These ten days after the child’s birth are referred to as Sutak and as per Parashar Samhita, the Sutak timing can vary. According to the Brahmin caste, the duration is 10 days, for the Kshatriyas it is 123 days, for the Vaishya clan it is 15 days, and for Shudras, it is one month. On the eleventh day after the child’s birth, Chhathi Puja is carried out for suitable results. The Namkaran of the child is done on the tenth day of birth and as per 2024 auspicious timelines.

The Process Of Naming Ceremony

On the specific Namkaran Muhurat day, the child and parents need to wear new and washed clothes. Then the father sits taking the baby in his lap and during this time, the hair of the baby gets wet. After that, different items are invoked in the Havan like Prajapati, Tithi, Nakshatra, Agni, gods and goddesses. Then the father whispers the chosen name in the ear of the child. The child is then made to taste a bit of honey and during the morning ceremony, the child is made to see the Sun god. The belief behind the ceremony is that by seeing the Sun the child also grows brighter like the Sun. Also, lean the child on the earth to give the blessing of Mother Earth. It is believed that naming the child as per birth Nakshatra will prove to be auspicious and deliver fruitful outcomes to the child.

2024 Namkaran Muhurat reveals that after keeping the name of the child, it is written on paper and shown to all the guests in the ceremony. In the Namkaran ceremony, taking the name of the child, repeat the mantra ‘Chiranjeevi Ho’, ‘Dharmashil Ho’, and ‘Pragatisheel Ho’ three times. After that, the father positions the child in the mother’s lap, and then the mother again puts the child in the father’s lap and in the process, all the people present in the ceremony take the child in their lap and give their blessings. Once the naming ceremony is done, the child is taken out in the open area. In the end, pray for the good health and long life of the child by offering kheer and sweets five times in the havan. Then blessings of elders, Gods and Goddesses, and Pandit Ji are taken.

How Is The Child’s Name Finalized In The Namkaran Ceremony?

The horoscope of the child is prepared by Pandit Ji after carefully evaluating the planets and nakshatras at the time of birth and the zodiac sign is determined. After that, some letters are suggested by Pandit Ji for the child’s name relating to the zodiac sign. The process of naming should be done only in auspicious timelines.

Things To Keep In Mind While Calculating 2024 Namkaran Muhurat

In Hindu religion, the child’s name is kept as per the Vedic astrology. To analyze the first name of the child, 5 things are taken into consideration that includes the Nakshatra of the child’s birth, Family Deity, the month of the child’s birth, Samasarikanam (Sansarik Name), and Horoscope Name.

It is crucial to keep specific things in mind for the Namkaran ceremony. Let us look at precautions to be followed during the Namkaran ceremony –

  • Perform the rituals in a clean place and should be done at home. But, if you’re not interested in doing the ceremony at home, select a temple or religious place for the Namkaran ceremony.
  • The Zodiac sign of the child should be taken into consideration for keeping the child’s name. Avoid choosing a name as per your desire as it can have a negative impact on the child’s life.
  • The naming ceremony should be done only at an auspicious timeline. Avoid consumption of non-vegetarian food and alcohol on the ritual day.
  • During the Namkaran ceremony, feed roti to cows and also feed desirable items to the poor people.
